LPG for a Caravan

LPG for a Caravan

With summer finally looking like it is going to make an appearance, we can imagine many of you are planning to make weekend trips. For those of you that own a caravan, motorhome or similar that runs off of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) we wanted to make you aware of a few things to consider.

LPG is a great flexible fuel to provide for all your heating, cooking and refrigeration needs whilst spending time in your caravan. However, corrosive it is a ‘seeking’ gas and so will find even the smallest exit to start leaking out of its container, it is also highly flammable. For this reason it is really important that you properly maintain and look after your LPG container.

  1. Regularly check hoses for splitting, damage, chafing and wear and tear.
  2. Hoses should be replaced every 3 years, from the date that the hose first has gas through it
  3. If you ever smell gas turn the gas cylinder off straight away and call a qualified LPG engineer
  4. Always turn the gas cylinder off before you travel
  5. Always change gas cylinders outside in the open air
  6. Get your cylinder regularly checked and maintained by a qualified LPG engineer

EGP Services are able to install, maintain and service LPG appliances, so if you are ever in any doubt or have any concerns do give us a ring, we’re happy to provide advice.
